Share your knowledge and experience with your peers in the public sector IT industry! The call for presentations for GMIS MEETS 2020 is now open. We encourage presentations that demonstrate cutting edge solutions, best practices or case studies in rapidly changing environments, all while navigating the tough political climate that often surrounds change in the public sector. This year, we are specifically looking for presentations that cover the topics outlined below:
Future of technology – how to prepare IT budget/staffing; being in compliance
The role of CIOs/IT Directors – what is your job?; how to maintain balance and not become overstressed
SOPs/policies & procedures – are they worth it?; how to get management on board for compliance
Emergency communication – process/plan; are you prepared to communicate internally AND externally?; contingency plan when you are unable to access your building
Data retention – policies; what needs to be saved for how long; what is an electronic record/what is not; mobile devices/body cams

It is an important characteristic of our GMIS team to have fellow members assist the Chairs of various GMIS committees. These positions do not require a lot of volunteer time and usually meet via conference call and follow-up business via email.
