GMIS International Announces Hershel Strickland Award Recipient

GMIS International recognizes New Jersey GMIS Chapter at 2010 Annual Conference.

Atlanta, Georgia – August 4, 2010 – GMIS International is pleased to announce the New Jersey GMIS Chapter as the recipient of the 2010 Hershel Strickland Award. The award was presented recently at the organization's conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The annual event was attended by over 100 public sector IT leaders and technology vendors, including international delegates from Canada, The Netherlands, and New Zealand.

The New Jersey GMIS Chapter was recognized for their exceptional initiative to increase the membership of GMIS International and the New Jersey GMIS Chapter. The Hershel Strickland Award recognizes a member or chapter who has worked to recruit the most new members in a year, thus helping to make GMIS a great organization. During the past year, the New Jersey Chapter added 31 new members to GMIS International. Through the outreach efforts of the New Jersey GMIS State Chapter Board of Directors and the New Jersey State Conference, many jurisdictions determined that membership in GMIS International provided exceptional value even in these tough economic times.

Newly elected President Johnny Walton congratulated the New Jersey Chapter by saying, "The efforts of the New Jersey GMIS State Chapter have set a high standard for recruitment of new GMIS International members. We congratulate New Jersey on their outstanding efforts.”
