Q1. What has been a significant technology achievement for you or your organization?
It is difficult to pick just one technology achievement for organization. During my tenure here we have been evacuated twice due to fires and having technology function during and after major natural disasters is a feat in and of itself. The technology achievement that I am most proud of is the build out of the REDI Net middle mile network from Santa Fe into northern New Mexico. This geographic area contains multiple tribes, counties and communities. We were able to work with these disparate groups to create a cohesive joint powers agreement and to bring bandwidth to our communities. I am honored that the board, which is represented by one member from each of the communities chose me as the Chair.

Q2. What Future Initiatives are you hoping to accomplish in the next year?
Our major initiatives for the upcoming year are to replace our current public safety ERP and to begin to replace our financial/utility ERP. It is an exciting endeavor and I am looking forward to improving service to our customers by updating these systems.

Q3. Best advice you could offer your fellow members
I believe it is important to use the resources you have available and to cultivate those resources. It is helpful to be part of many organizations because it helps you to gain perspective and I feel it is our responsibility to be excellent citizens and help others. That is why I began my public service career. GMIS International is a tremendous resource because there are many out there that have already been there, done that. Even when we have a wide variety of experience ourselves, I find that using the experiences of others helps you to evaluate and improve your course forward. I often tell other public sector entities that the best advice I can give them is to join GMIS International.
