Laura Gonzales, CIO of Los Alamos County, New Mexico

I began attending the GMIS International Conferences in 2011. The conferences are full of relevant content on what we do in public sector and school Information Technology. Some content highlights for me over the years have been presentations on managing social content records in the San Francisco Bay area, local government fiber network projects, recovering from natural disasters and how NASCAR handles the massive amount of data they collect. Additionally, I enjoy networking with those in my field from within the United States as well as around the world. Learning about what problems and solutions others have experienced allows me to take back real world experiences to apply to where I work. The conference is a tremendous value whereby I receive sufficient learning credits to maintain my CGCIO® and PMP® certifications. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity to attend.
