Fansestock Wins MISAPA
Written by: Bruce Miller
Congratulations go to Roger Fahnestock of
Kane County Illinois who is the GMIS 2005 Management Information
Sciences Annual Professional Award recipient. Roger is the Director of
Information Services at Kane County and was nominated by Mitzi A.
Strike, Technology Coordinator at Kane County.
The nomination listed
numerous technical accomplishments and included verbiage about his
character. “Fahnestock has also taught evening technology courses at
DeVry University during his first two years at Kane County. Fahnestock
also volunteers his vast networking and computer skills by assisting
not-for-profit agencies with system configurations. He has also worked
on a collaborative effort with the Kane County Sheriff’s Fraternal Order
of Police to donate decommissioned Kane County PCs to at-risk youth in
low-income areas within Kane County.”
For those of us who got
to meet and talk with Roger at the New Haven Conference, it was obvious
that Roger is everything his nomination says he is. We look forward to
seeing Roger at future GMIS events and having him continue to
participate actively in GMIS.
The competition for the
award this year was very good. There were several other noteworthy
nominations that deserve special recognition and thanks. In no
particular order, they are:
·
Carmen Suarez, Miami Dade County, Florida
·
Ron Greenhoff, Sedgwick County, Kansas
·
Kevin Sato, Murray, Utah
·
Boyle Wong, Glenview, Illinois
·
Kevin Crouch, Clovis, New Mexico
May we all have a
great year as did this group of nominees. Charleston will be an
excellent venue to recognize our next winner.
