Clark Rainer
Congratulations to the new 2001 MISAPA winner Clark Rainer
from McDonough, Georgia and sponsoring agency, the Henry County Board of Commissioners!!!
For the short time that Clark has been with the Henry County Board of Commissioners he has
accomplished a lot. Some of his major
projects include migrating Henry County from Win 3.51 to NT 4.0 server environment with an
eye towards Win 2000. Developed the
countys first web site. Installed and
maintained the countys first countywide email system.
Migrated Internet access from dial-up to shared broad-band. Installed and maintained 5 firewalls. Established PPTP and IPSEC (SLIP) VPN to make the
countys first non-dial-up WAN. Setup
the countys first comprehensive virus protection initiative and the countys
first network and disaster recovery initiative. Played
a major role in moving the entire administrative staff and 6 other departments into their
new building. Developed green-screen access
to our AS400s via the web. Worked with the
Development Authority and numerous vendors to develop better infrastructure in Henry
County. Helped maintain and support over 600
nodes in an extremely hybrid network. Served
as top tier help desk/ technician, providing network engineering and administration
service for all county entities. Maintained
continuity in network design and equipment purchased.
Generally responsible for keeping all networks fully functional and the
Commissioners happy.
Mr. Rainer also has numerous outside activities and awards.
According to his boss, Clark is difficult to manage. Not that it is hard to do, but
rather different in that you dont want to bridle him in his enthusiasm or vigor in
his daily work performance, because we all gain from his accomplishments.
