About GMIS
Bookmark and Share

In 1971, a group of computer leaders, realizing all of us need help from time to time, organized GMIS International to foster sharing among all levels of government involved in our endless world of technology. Not to be confused with other user groups, GMIS focuses solely on sharing situations related to government information processing.

GMIS International offers various online services to its members. To access the different parts of the Members Only area, you'll be required to have an ID and password. The GMIS Headquarters Staff is responsible for distributing these IDs to reresentatives of the member organizations.

Dues paying members in good standing may access the following areas:
•GEM - an online magazine with information about programs and activities in various member agencies as well as problem-solving articles, technical articles, job listings, and other valuable information.
•GMIS Annual Conference archives - educational sessions, exhibits, files and presentations from past conferences
•GMIS Members Forum (formerly a Listserv) operated exclusively for our members. Ask questions and find out state of the art answers from others. The Forum includes powerful archives which allows the searching of past discussions for data mining the minds of GMIS members. For more information see Forum and Archive Information.
•RFP Repository - Sample RFP’s for systems, networks, software, and services
•Policy Repository - Sample Policies and Proceedures for systems, networks, software, and personnel
•GMIS Member Survey - This database consists of hardware and applications specifications from member agencies. This valuable database will be made available for inquiry and for update.
•AWARDS Program - annual awards program for IT leaders

Most importantly, GMIS provides VALUE to the professionals who actively participate in the organization. In a recent survey, 96% of GMIS members felt they received a good value for their membership.  Membership dues have not been increased in many years and are more affordable than any similar professional organization dues.
